REGISTRATION FOR PROSPECTIVE USERS
Prospective users should follow the step-by-step instruction below to gain access to YMF facilities.
Step 1 - Collect Mandatory Documents
For all prospective users, please ensure meeting the prerequisites below before going to Step 2.
- Proof of completion of WHMIS training
- Thoroughly read and understand YMF Laboratories Policy and Guidelines
- Filled the relevant Authorization and Agreement Form (for borrow equipment and take it out of the lab or lab access and use the equipment in the lab) signed by the prospective user's supervisor
Step 2 - Online Registration
Once you have all documents outlined in Step 1 ready, please fill out the Online Registration Form below. (You should disable Ad-block plugin of your browser, if you do not see the pop-up window.)
Note: please choose between Equipment Rental or Lab Access in the registration form according to the Authorization and Agreement Form you have filled out.

A confirmation email will be sent to you after your registration is approved.
You will also be added to the YMF MS Teams Group and Online Equipment Booking System (NEMO @ YorkU). Instrument instructions, manuals, lab policies and your uploaded experimental data are all available at Teams.
Step 3 - User Training
Before starting to use the facility, you will have to book and complete relevant training. There are two types of training - general training and specific equipment training.
General Training - The general training is mandatory, provided in groups on demand. It is free of charge. The general training includes a lab tour, lab policies/protocols, and demonstration of using common and easy-to-operate tools such as hotplates, the profilometer, the spin coater, and the plasma asher.
Specific Tool Training - Specific tool training will be offered to those who use advanced and large scale tools such as the UV mask aligner, the PECVD-RIE, the sputtering machine, and the ebeam evaporator. The specific tool training will be offered by request. The rate can be found in the Fee Scheme.
To book a training session, please log onto Online Equipment Booking System (NEMO @ YorkU) and choose [YMF] Book Training.
Step 4 - Equipment Booking
After you have completed the general training and/or specific tool training session, your account on the booking system will be activated. You should be able to book an instrument that you are qualified to use on the booking system.
Step 5 - Access Card Activation
After completing Step1~Step 4, please submit a request to activate your student card through Card Access Request Form to gain access to the YMF labs. If you don't have access in 3 days after submitting a request, please contact Joseph Pedias (joseph.pedias@lassonde.yorku.ca).
